Unmissable Bungalows for Sale, Well Presented & Full of Space

If you are searching for bungalows for sale, let me take you through a few homes I have personally toured over the years. One that stands out is a well presented, two-bedroom bungalow sitting quietly in the market town of Watton, Norfolk a truly special find, and one of the few still available on the market.

Not far away, on the outskirts of Benfleet, I once viewed an incredible four bedroom detached home on a third-of-an-acre plot, a place the sellers had nicknamed Burt’s Lodge, and it was an absolute cracker of a property.

Then there was a rainy, grey day in Chorley, when I walked through an older individual property a genuine doer-upper that only needed some light work to the kitchens, bathrooms, and decor, plus a big garden that made the whole visit worthwhile.

Location of These Bungalows for Sale

The property location of that Watton home was hard to beat, tucked inside a development on Langmere Road where almost every house was one of the neighbouring bungalows. It sat in a genuinely peaceful location, surrounded by open fields, yet close enough to the center of town for easy living. All the neighboring properties shared that same relaxed feel, and residents could still walk to all the local amenities they needed.

Watton Bungalow

At the front of bungalow in Watton, a driveway and garage gave off-road parking, and the front gardens were laid with low-maintenance shingle around a circular patio feature near the main entrance door; a second entrance door led into the entrance hall, an L-shaped entrance hall with a built-in cupboard and doors off to the various rooms.

Benfleet Residence

In Benfleet, the home had been extended and upgraded to a highest specification by the current sellers, giving over 450 square feet of entertaining accommodation a genuinely ideal property for a peaceful lifestyle while still hosting entertaining friends and family through the summer months.

Chorley & Norfolk Homes

In Chorley, past the utility area and shower room, sat the fourth bedroom used as an office, ideal for anyone wanting work from home flexibility, since it could even be made self-contained with its own door to outside and looking back at the brief video tour of the well presented detached two-bedroom bungalow in Norfolk’s market town of Watton, plus the gables of the Chorley house even in the rain, both proved to be a great property with real potential and the makings of a fantastic home, full of space inside. Anyone still comparing bungalows for sale should keep these three homes in mind as a benchmark.

Kitchen

Inside, the modern fitted kitchen had units running along the wall and floor, with a ceramic sink and a handy one-and-a-half bowl sink unit for washing up.

There was plumbing already fitted for a washing machine and a slimline dishwasher, alongside an integral electric oven, a ceramic hob, and an extractor hood to keep the air fresh, plus a built-in cupboard with room for a tall upright fridge freezer.

In the four-bedroom home, the kitchen carried highest grade appliances from brands like Bora, Siemens, and Kuka, creating a real entertaining space; meanwhile, the older Chorley kitchen needed replaced units and showed clear potential, with knocking the wall down into the living room offering loads of space for a fresh layout.

Living Room / Lounge

The lounge was a good size room with a feature fireplace holding an electric fire, and being UPVC double glazed throughout, the floor-to-ceiling glazed front wall let in plenty of natural light. From the entrance hall, complete with its own front door and neat tiles on the floor, a short hallway led through with useful storage along the way.

In the Chorley property, the living room sat a few steps down and featured a cosy wood burner with sliding doors opening onto a conservatory that flowed straight out to the garden the kind of layout buyers browsing bungalows for sale often ask about first.

Bedrooms

Down the hallway of the Watton bungalow, bedroom one was a good size double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and a window looking out to the rear, while the second bedroom opened through sliding UPVC double-glazed patio doors straight onto the rear garden.

The Chorley home offered three bedrooms instead, one at the front with three windows and handy storage, plus two bedrooms at the back with lovely views over the garden.

Bathroom / Shower Room

The shower room in the Watton bungalow held a good size shower cubicle, a wash basin, and a WC, all finished neatly for daily use. Over in Chorley, the family bathroom had a separate bath and shower side by side, and just past it sat a flexible fourth bedroom, perfect as an office for anyone who wants to work from home.

Garden

Stepping out through the patio doors from the second bedroom, the enclosed rear garden of the Watton bungalow backed straight onto open countryside, with access to the garage, a neat lawn, and outside lights for evening use.

Down in Benfleet, the rear garden was even grander, with a heated pool and an outbuilding housing a gym and a bar for entertaining.

Meanwhile, the Chorley garden had real character: a footpath ran along the far side of a hedge, following an old track down past a greenhouse, raised beds, and a large timber shed, then through a gate to the lower part of the garden, where an old orchard completed the scene. Gardens like these are often the deciding factor when people compare bungalows for sale in the same area.

FAQs

What are the common problems with bungalows?

Older individual properties sometimes need light work like updated kitchens, bathrooms, and fresh decor, plus an outdated floor or wall layout that could use replaced units but with a little vision, that same space turns into real potential.

Are bungalows selling well at the moment?

Yes, bungalows for sale in peaceful locations like Watton and Norfolk are attracting steady interest, especially well presented homes with a good size garden and easy local amenities nearby.

What are the downsides of a bungalow?

A bungalow can sometimes feel like it needs light work or knocking wall down to open up the kitchen and living room, and older ones may lack the highest specification finishes buyers hope for.

Where is the best place to buy a bungalow?

A peaceful location surrounded by fields yet close to the center of town, like the development in Watton or the quiet outskirts of Benfleet, offers the best of both worlds  and honestly, that balance is what makes a house feel like home.

What adds the most value to a bungalow?

An extended and upgraded layout, a modern fitted kitchen with highest grade appliances, and a big garden with a heated pool or outbuilding can all lift a bungalow’s value significantly.
